Who is The Clean Vet?

Angela Willemsen is a Brisbane based, small animal/end of life veterinarian who wants to share all things 'infection prevention and control' (IPC) amongst veterinary professionals. Her first career as a Registered Nurse provided her with a good grounding in infection control and she found the principles were just the same when caring for animals.

Her interest in public health and IPC was reignited after seeing the many similarities and differences that exist within veterinary and human health care. This was confirmed through the completion of a PHD through The University of Queensland, investigating infection control practices within small animal clinics.

Angela would like to positively influence practitioners and allow them to implement IPC within their environment. She uses evidence based information to provide contextual, understandable and practical information to all veterinary staff.

Why is infection prevention and control important?

Infection prevention and control (IPC) helps to reduce the spread of infectious diseases, including antimicrobial resistance.

IPC protects patients, clients and veterinary staff and ensures that patients receive safe and effective care.
