What are YOU doing to improve YOUR infection prevention and control practices?
Hands are the most common route of infection.
Infections can occur via DIRECT transmission – when any pathogens on your hands are transmitted directly to another via person via a handshake, a hug, the checking of mucous membranes, the placing of an IV catheter.
Infections can also occur via INDIRECT transmission – when pathogens on your hands have been transmitted to other surfaces – such as door knobs, key boards, phones, clippers, cage handles – and another person or one of your patients – has contact with that surface.
Solution? Wash your hands – before touching a patient, before a procedure, after a procedure or body fluid risk, after touching a patient, after touching a patient’s environment, such as the cage.
Simple isn’t it?
